Feeling the love in Toronto!

Goodbye New York, hello Toronto. We were greeted by freezing conditions and snow. We couldn’t believe it when Billy said he’d never seen snow before. You half can’t tell we are Australian’s walking the streets though, as every second snow pile up was the trench for another snow ball fight. Greg and alex were the obvious targets as Billy was sending down some thunderbolts of ice.We played our first show last night and it was out of this world!!!! Thanks to everyone who came down as we were blown away. It was an amazing feeling hearing people in a place you’ve never been before on the other side of the world singing along to your tunes knowing all the words. Wow. The venue (Cherry Colas) was one of the coolest clubs I’ve been too – sorta had this burlesque 1930′s glamour feel to it with girls in lingerie serving behind the bar and even a girl dancing in a small hole in the wall near the stage. Rockin style but not trashy if that makes sense? It was a packed house with ques outside the door so sorry to all those who had to wait in the wind and rain outside!

Earlier in the night met up with the Birds of Toyko lads at their gig and saw a couple other bands too. Highlight though was a band tucked away in a small upstairs stage called ‘Familia’. We were blown away and reckon we found our new favorite band which we reckon you’ll love too. Think Florence and the machine meets fleetwood Mac. Incredible!

Anyways it’s rest time for us before more media stuff so we’ll chat real soon!

New York Baby!

This city takes your breathe away. This is truly once of the most amazing places on earth. There is a energy in this place that only cities like London can compare to, but I still feel this city takes the cake. We landed late on the Friday night and checked into our backpackers accommodation. I will never forget the first time i stepped into times square. It feels strange, like you have almost stepped onto a movie set. Think the travel took it out of us as we retired hurt for the evening.Saturday was a full day of sight seeing and posing in many suspect photos with statues ( think we overstepped the mark a few times sorry NYC) Out on our feet, we decided to unleash fury on a city in the form of a night on the town with alex “ohhhh one more vodka lime” qasabian leading the way to some of his fav liberty city haunts. Good man only lasted one or two irish pubs but thats not to say the journey wasn’t worth it. Waving the flag until 4:30am was kev, Billy and myself. Funny thing when you have a night out and only one phone to share with everyone, all of a sudden your iphone become the puzzle for your night out and the photos become the missing pieces. Judging by the “happy 21st birthday” sunglasses Billy was photographed wearing during the night looks like we wound back a few years and gave him the 21st he never had. Haha

The next day was a total write off. Thankfully it was pouring so we slept all day and we blamed it on the rain (sorry for that sneaky a milli vanilli reference)

Well I must run, it’s our show tonight! Bring on the big apple!

STONE PARADE PREPARING FOR CANADIAN MUSIC FEST

Stone Parade are counting down the days until their performance at the Canadian Music Festival. They will be sharing the stage alongside other Australian bands; Birds of Tokyo, Hungry Kids of Hungary and Hilltop Hoods.

Canadian Music Fest has announced Stone Parade in it’s official line up this year at it’s week long festival in Toronto in March. Stone Parade will perform alongside other Australian bands such as Birds of Tokyo, Hungry Kids of Hungary and Hilltop Hoods.

Over 800 artists fill over 55 venues during the 5 day festival which will see the band performing amongst emerging artists as well as today’s hottest concert hit makers, including Good Charlotte, Melissa Etheridge, Papa Roach and Sammy Hagar (Van Halen) This event coincides with one of the world’s largest music conferences which will give industry a chance to watch the band at showcases. The band will also take the opportunity to make a stopover in New York for an industry showcase at the famed Arlene’s Grocery on 7th March.

Lead singer Greg Byrne says “We’ve heard so much about the similarities between Australian and Canadian culture. Being selected to take the stage at Canadian Music Week now allows us to finally experience it first hand. We’re also looking forward to catching up and hanging out with our other Aussie muso friends that will be performing.”
